Services · Bespoke software
Bespoke software, when the business genuinely needs it. Never for show.
Some businesses work in a way no off-the-shelf tool ever planned for, and the team ends up working around the software with spreadsheets, messages and memory. We build software that understands your business rules, instead of forcing your business to fit the software.
The problem
When off-the-shelf software starts getting expensive
Ring any bells?
- Your most important business rule lives outside the system, in a side spreadsheet or in someone's head
- Every exception becomes a workaround, and the workarounds start depending on each other
- The same information gets entered in two or three places, and one of them is always out of date
- The current system sort of works, but nobody trusts the numbers it shows
- Growing means hiring people to make up for what the tool can't do
What changes
What changes when the software understands your operation
- Your business rules live in one place, and everyone works from them
- What can't happen simply doesn't, because the system won't allow it
- Information is entered once and shows up wherever it's needed
- Your team stops working around the tool and starts using it
What's included
What we can build
-
Admin dashboard
Where your team adds records, tracks work and makes decisions, with your rules built in.
-
Order and stock management
One set of stock figures across the shop floor, online sales and your field team, so the same item never sells twice.
-
Client portal
Where clients check on what's theirs without having to ask on WhatsApp.
-
Custom sales pipeline
For when the way you sell is too specific for an off-the-shelf CRM.
-
Team app
A simple phone app for people at the counter, out in the field or helping customers.
-
Internal tools
That task only your business does, which today depends on a fragile spreadsheet.
How we approach it
Rules first, then screens
Bespoke software is only worth it if it protects what your business can't afford to get wrong. That's why the work starts with your business rules, written down and tested before the first screen exists. Screens come later, and they're the easiest part to change.
We also decide early what we won't build. Part of what seems to need bespoke software can be solved with an off-the-shelf tool set up well, and when that's the case, that's what we recommend.
How software comes together here
-
Real process
How the work actually happens today, exceptions included.
-
Rules
What the system must never let happen.
-
Build
Data, system and screens built on the rules, not the other way around.
-
Testing
The rules proven before real use.
-
Use and adjust
Your team using it, us measuring.
Tools we've already used on this sort of project. We pick them once we understand the problem, not before.

Find out moreWhen it makes sense
This isn't the answer to every problem.
Telling you when it isn't right for you is part of the job. Sometimes the answer is something else, and sometimes it's leaving well alone.
It's worth it when
- Your process is part of your competitive edge and doesn't fit a generic tool
- There's a business rule that costs money or customers when it fails
- Several people or channels touch the same information at the same time
- Adapting off-the-shelf tools already costs more than building
It isn't worth it when
- An off-the-shelf tool already handles the essentials and what's missing is detail
- The process still changes every week and nobody knows which version will stick
- The real problem is organisation, and software would just record the mess
- There's no one who will use the system day to day
Frequently asked questions
Bespoke software or off-the-shelf, how do I decide?
If off-the-shelf software covers the essentials and what's left is detail, it's usually the better choice, and we'll tell you so. Bespoke software makes sense when the process is part of your edge, when a rule has to be enforced and not just remembered, or when adapting ready-made tools already costs more than building.
Can we start small?
Yes, and it's usually the best way. We start with the part of the operation where mistakes cost the most, put it to use, and build the rest on top of what already works.
Do we have to replace what we already use?
Not always. New software can run alongside your current tools and talk to them. Replacing only makes sense when keeping both costs more than switching.
How do you make sure the business rules don't break?
Each rule is written in one place and tested automatically before every change goes live. When more than one person works on the same data, we also test what happens when two people try the same thing at the same time.

Is there a rule in your operation that no tool respects?
Tell us what it is. Before we talk about software, we'll check whether it really needs any.
